- Announced

What it is
Onhand creates and edits images with AI on the iPhone or iPad itself. It downloads the image model to the device and runs generation there, so your prompts and source photos are not uploaded to a server to make an image.
Onhand is still in development and is not on the App Store yet. Its website, onhand.arkaledge.com, has a launch list and a blog about on-device image generation.
What you can do
- Text to image
- Image to image, starting from a photo you choose
- Inpainting to replace a painted area
- Resize 2×
- Background removal
- Works in airplane mode once a model pack has downloaded
How it works
Onhand is built with Swift and Apple’s MLX and Core ML frameworks, and generates images on the device’s own GPU. Which models and image sizes a device can run depends on its memory.

Good to know
Downloading models, catalogue updates, purchases, and limited app analytics do use the network. The Onhand privacy policy explains each one.
